Overview
Deal Details is a browser-based application with its own internal navigation system. Unlike typical websites, you won't need to use your browser's back and forward buttons. All navigation happens within the software itself, making your workflow faster and more intuitive once you learn the basics.
Before You Start
Requirement | Details |
Browser | Modern web browser with Deal Details open |
Mindset shift | Be ready to stop using browser back/forward buttons |
Key Navigation Concept: Stay Inside the Software
What to Avoid
Browser Element | Why to Avoid It |
Back button | Disrupts application state; use in-app navigation instead |
Forward button | Not needed; the software handles all forward movement |
Address bar | No need to type URLs; everything is accessible from within |
What's Okay to Use
Browser Element | When It's Fine |
Refresh button | Use if the page seems unresponsive or you want to reload |
⚠️ Important: Deprogram yourself from reaching for the browser's back button. The software provides all the navigation you need through its own interface.
Step-by-Step: Moving Around the Software
1. Use the Left Navigation Panel
The left sidebar is your main hub for moving between major sections:
Section | What You'll Find |
All Deals | Your complete list of deals |
Properties | Property information and records |
Contacts | Client and contact management |
Dashboard | Overview and quick stats |
Video Library | Training and reference videos |
Education Center | Learning resources and guides |
2. Navigate Within Deals Using Breadcrumb Links
When you're inside a deal, look for contextual "back" links at the top of the screen:
From a Scenario view, click the link to return to your Deal Home
From a Deal Home, click the link to return to All Deals
3. Expand Your Workspace
If you need more screen space while working:
Click the collapse icon to minimize the left navigation panel
Click again to expand it back when you need to navigate elsewhere
Understanding Hover vs. Click Behavior
Because Deal Details is browser-based, many interface elements respond to hovering rather than clicking.
When to Hover (Not Click)
Element | Hover Behavior |
Preview PDF | Hover to reveal PDF options; no click needed |
Create New button | Hover to see all creation options (new deal, new scenario, etc.) |
Action menus | Hover to expand dropdown choices |
💡 Tip: If you click on these elements instead of hovering, the menu may flash open and closed. Just hover and hold still to see your options, then click your selection.
Opening Deals and Scenarios
Two Ways to Open Items
Method | How It Works |
Card View (Quick) | Click anywhere on a deal card to open it directly |
Actions Menu | Click the Actions button, then select "View/Edit Scenario" from the dropdown |
The card view method is faster for everyday use. Just click the card itself rather than hunting for a specific button.
Quick Reference
Left Nav Panel → Select Section → Click Deal Card → Use In-App Links to Navigate Back
Tips for Success
Forget the browser back button—train yourself to use the in-app navigation links instead
Hover before you click—many menus reveal options on hover, not on click
Click anywhere on cards—you don't need to find a specific "open" button
Collapse the sidebar—gain extra workspace when you need to focus on details
Use refresh sparingly—it's safe to use, but rarely necessary
